On behalf of the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton ISD No. 2902 District, I want to welcome each of you to another exciting school year.  I trust your time away this summer has been very enjoyable, renewing, adventurous and interwoven with fun and relaxation; reinvigorating you all for the beginning of what will be another outstanding school year at RTR!

RTR staff has been busy this summer completing facilities and technology projects, finalizing hiring, putting on the finishing touches on getting our school ready for everyone’s return, and providing professional development for staff.  We have missed physically connecting with each other and our families and are elated to have all RTR students begin school starting on September 5, 2023.  For additional back-to-school information, the RTR Fall Newsletter will be mailed out sometime during the week of August 21, 2023.

As we enter the 2023-24 school year, we are excitedly preparing to incorporate our memorable mission and vivid vision into all that we must do. We are eager to see the many diverse and creative ways our students will demonstrate their wonder, discovery, voice, and talents. I have complete confidence the results will inevitably advance the world making it a better place for all. Throughout the year, I will be sharing the many contributions our students and staff are producing which demonstrate our commitment to provide a high quality education to each and every child that attends our school. This level of commitment to quality and excellence has resulted in an engaging curriculum, high levels of student achievement, connections for career, trade schools, and college readiness with high graduation rates.

The RTR School District has enjoyed unbelievable support from a very engaging and involved community.  Our 2019 successful bond election, where we built a new PreK-12 School Facility, demonstrated the strong support of our community for the children of the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton area. Again this fall on November 7th, we will ask our school community to approve an additional $15,000,000 bond to increase the number of classrooms, to add a gymnasium that meets the MN Storm Shelter requirements, and the construction and equipping of a larger fitness/weight room.

Throughout the district, our students, teachers, and administrators have received regional, state, and national recognition for excellence and for achievements in curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular events. These recognitions validate the level of quality in teaching and learning that each child experiences in our schools throughout the District. Through the ongoing effort of our dedicated team of teachers, support staff, and administrators, the RTR School District is able to deliver on a commitment of excellence through continuous improvement. In this school district we strive every day to deliver on our promise of excellence by working together, by educating with excellence, and by inspiring all learners for life!

I am so proud to be the educational leader of this School District. I look forward to serving you, and I hope we can continue to work together to provide a strong school community.

And remember . . . 2023-24 will be a GREAT YEAR to be a KNIGHT!

    Warmest Regards,

    David A. Marlette,

    RTR Superintendent of Schools
