RTR HIGH SCHOOL

                                          Drama

The RTR theater department puts on three one-act plays in the winter at the high school in the middle of February and a spring full length play/musical at the Opera House in Lake Benton during the 3rd weekend in May.  Tryouts for the one-acts takes place during the last week in November and the spring play/musical tryouts are generally during the last couple weeks of March.  One of the one-act plays will go on to compete at subsections held in Granite Falls on the last Saturday in January.  RTR has been very fortunate to finish in the top two at subsections for the past 7 years enabling them to move on to the section finals in Redwood Falls which is held the first weekend in February.  Over the years RTR has had the opportunity to advance to the State Festival two times!  The one-acts will also put on a dinner theater during the last night of their performances to raise money to go on their annual Chanhassen Dinner Theater trip.  Some musicals that have been recently performed for the spring shows are the “Wizard of Oz” and Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”.  All plays are open to any student in grades 9-12 to tryout.
